Margarita recipie!!!!
I cannot seem to get a margarita recipie that I like. I have tired a lot of different mixes and not using mixes! What do you use? So far I am having most of my luck with:

Contriu (yeah I can't spell it)
Roses lime juice
What ratio's are people using? Mine turn out sour...

personally, I believe that a really really good margarita must have Grand Marnier; not enough to overpower it..
just seems to add that top shelf taste to it...
and I never use salt on the rim....never.
T's margarita mix seems to suit my taste...and I like a good splash of triple sec in it, too...
that's my personal taste, though, I'm sure...

I think fresh lime juice is a must, I'm not a fan of Roses. Plus, a bartender gave me a hint, add a dash of lemon juice as well to balance out the lime bite.

A Good Margarita
2 Parts tequila
1 part triple sec
1 part FRESH Squeezed Lime Juice
1/2 part FRESH Squeezed Orange Juice
The Secret fresh Orange and Lime juice.
I have had this Margarita before and it rocks!!!!

I made this recipe over the weekend, it was pretty good.
2 parts Cuervo 1800 tequila
1 part Cointreau
3 parts Mr & Mrs T's Sweet and Sour Mix
Fresh squeezed juice from 1/2 lime
splash of Cuervo Classico tequila
This is basically the Tangy Margarita recipe from Wahine Man by The Boat Drunks except I added an extra part of mix.
2 parts Cuervo 1800 tequila
1 part Cointreau
3 parts Mr & Mrs T's Sweet and Sour Mix
Fresh squeezed juice from 1/2 lime

I started from this recipe, too, which I got from this very forum.
I have changed it a little to suit, I prefer 3/4 can tequila and 1/4 can cointreau. Great on the rocks with a TINY bit of salt.
I have also adapted it to work with my frozen concoction maker. Just dump a 6 oz can of concentrate in the blender, 3/4 can of tequila, 1/4 can cointreau and dial up three drinks. It fills three 12 oz glasses to perfection with fantastic frozen margaritas.
I like a little heavier salting with frozen drinks.

I am a bartender at a sport bar so its odd when people order a margarita but how I do its I throw some ice into a glass and muddle in some limes, add tequilla ( I tend to pour heave to get bigger tips, hehehe) triple sec, the sour and lemonaid, I dump it into a shaker and shake it up and and pour it into a salted glass if they want salt.

This is how I've been making them this past year and so far everyone seems to keep coming back for more and no one has asked for any adjustments either.
Even amount of gold tequila (whatever floats your boat) and Cointreau; for a standard SOLO cup filled with ice and pour spouts on the bottles, I'll pour both to a count of 3, maybe 4 if I like you

I like to use sour mix over margarita mix but I've used either and still no complaints. Pour whichever mix you have into cup, near full; leave room for a healthy splash of orange juice.
Shake in shaker until the shaker tin gets a nice cold frost on it, or pour it back and forth in cups. Then drizzle a nice amount of Grand Marnier.
Although there is alot of orange flavored stuff in it the mix balances it out.

Just keep it simple and you can adjust to your taste. No mix! They all taste different, sometimes tinny, too sweet, not sweet enough, etc. Most are just high fructose corn syrup (sugar) water with lime flavoring, its some of the lime flavoring that gives the weird tastes and variation between the brands at times. I came up with this for traveling and on the boat, no looking around for mix in different towns, etc, just about every store on earth has powdered/confectioners sugar. It also lasts a very long time in a ziplock bag.
So all you have is Tequilla, Grand Marnier, and limes
Some folks like to add another liquor to adjust sweet and that can work too but I prefer this
Note: if you find yourself adding a fair bit of powered sugar for a sweeter version, muddle the powdered suger in with the limes and then add ice, it will dissolve better. Had a wife that liked them way too sweet, yes I said "had"

with no other non-alcoholic liquids other than the juice from the limes, sounds like you've created a Marga-tini! I'm going to have to try this one out, do you recommend gold, silver or what tequila?
Actually this is similar to the original margarita drinks with lime or lemon and that's it. Be sure to muddle well, you not only get the meat of the lime throughout but also the oils in the skin, like zest, I think it makes a difference.
I like Sauza Hornitos or Don Julio, I think the 100% Agave tequilla tastes better than the blended ones. One problem is it has to be made one drink at a time so if you're having a party, you'll be making drinks most of time

The Perfect Margarita has always worked for me
1 oz Margaritaville® Gold Tequila
.5 oz Margaritaville® Silver Tequila
.5 oz Triple Sec
.5 oz Orange Curacao
.5 oz Lime juice
2 Lime Wedges
Rim margarita glass with salt. Combine ingredients in a shaker filled with ice. Squeeze limes and add to tin. Shake vigorously and pour into a margarita glass.
1 oz Margaritaville® Gold Tequila
.5 oz Margaritaville® Silver Tequila
.5 oz Triple Sec
.5 oz Orange Curacao
.5 oz Lime juice
2 Lime Wedges
