Berry Barium Contrast Smoothie Antidote?
I had to drink two pints of the stuff yesterday for a CT scan.
I can't get the thought of the taste and texture out of my mind, and it's been twenty hours by now.
I tried beer, root beer, chinese food, and smoked salmon so far.
Still get sick to my stomach thinking about it.
I'll never drink a non-medicinal smoothie again!
Any good antidote ideas?
BTW, I'm OFF today, so anything goes!

Since you're off today, break out the rum. It may not help but after a few you won't care or remember why you don't feel well.

0 degree wind chill today (13 degree actual) may call for an earlier start, with a stronger cure.
Maybe some 151 straight up will do the trick

longboardn', i sympathize with you. the friday before xmas i ended up in the hospital and i had to drink 2 containers of the stuff for my ct scan. the flavor was a mild banana. when i took the first sip i thought, oh this isn't bad, no problem. well, it didn't take long for me to have the same reaction. to make matters worse, i have acid reflux. my stomach started to hurt, the reflux acted up and i felt like i was going to throw up.
i could taste the drink for days afterwards. by mistake i ate a banana that wasn't completely ripe. i couldn't finish it because of the tastebud flashbacks.
go out and have a burger and fries with beer. something totally opposite of fruit.
good luck and i hope you're on the mend to whatever is ailing you.

I know that physicaly the taste has to be gone, and I've gone in excess of two hours without even thinking about it, but it still comes back to haunt me!Snowparrot wrote:Hey, sorry to hear they're messing with your innards.
I think the previous suggestions were all fine, especially the rum
The 8% ABV Scotch Ale at the local brew pub worked wonders though.
The CT scan including the 3 hour fast (big deal) and the two pints of contrast along with the I.V. iodine were actually a piece of cake compared to the other methods they've been using to check my innards lately.
Two weeks ago they scoped my bladder. Lots of fun.
Being truly sick of course sucks, and being a hypochondriac would really mess with your life, not to mention your health and happiness.
But my problem is neither here nor there.
I feel great, only have minor symptoms, yet flunk all the routine basic tests.
Of course wisdom dictates following through with even more tests, but to maintain my FAA medical I have to continue with all the rest of the proof that there is nothing wrong with me if I want to continue to fly.
So each test proves that the prior red flag was indeed nothing to worry about, but of course finds something new that must be further studied.
Thank god I'm only un-healthy on paper!
Best medical advice I received all year: (from a Urologist)
"Drink, drink, drink, I don't care if it's water, Gatoraid, or beer.
If it's beer, drink a whole keg of the stuff. If your not either drinking or peeing, you're doing something wrong."
Too bad that order expired a week ago.

I'm not a doctor nor do I play one on TV (and I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night), but I say until superceded by a new order the previous order stands. Keep drinking that beer and pee like you mean it!Longboardn' ASEL&S wrote:Best medical advice I received all year: (from a Urologist)

Next time (I hope you won't have to have a 'next time'...but....)....ask for vanilla...just as horrid, but it doesn't linger like the others.Longboardn' ASEL&S wrote:I had to drink two pints of the stuff yesterday for a CT scan.

I'm glad I tried your aged-in-alcohol cherries last July at the Tinley Park tailgate.Big Jimmy wrote:You were lucky you only had to drink 2 of them. When I had my gallbladder out a couple of years ago, the nurse made me drink three of them ( and im not a huge person either)
I would have to turn down anything remotely tasting of berries from now on!

Which reminds me--- the friends I was with, I am no longer friends with. And well they still have them in their possession.
Its ok... Im gonna make a new batch or two soon.
Im thinking of one batch with 151
and the other with Everclear.
Only the strong survive.

We were at a bar/grill that had some pineapple slices aging in vodka in some decorative decanters for future use gracing their counter, and he said " That's like that guy in Chicago at the Jimmy Buffett concert that had those cherries! That was so cool that he let me have one!"

Which ones did you have?
I know I had a batch with Absolute Vanilla
The other batch may have been Bacardi Dark.
This year if I do go to see Jimmy, It will be all about the strongest liquor in it. Everything must have at least 100 proof.
