He said it all depended on the Xray operator and their supervisor really. Most big airports would probably let it slip by with no issues, but some of the smaller ones would be more sticklers to details.. namely the 'blades' in the item. The motor would draw some investigation as it would show up very readily and they probably would open the bag to investigate further.
I think (and he agreed) its not very likely for someone to use a 400.00 margarita machine as a weapon, so some common sense SHOULD prevail with the agents.

Re: Carry on a FCM?
Well thanks for the replies.
I mean a frozen concoction maker.
I am flying southwest from tampa to raleigh. I am first driving down from tallahassee so I will have my car and was planning on bringing my FCM down with me for tampa. Just wondering if it should make the flight as well.
PLUS, I am thinking about going up to virginia in september.

Wise advice....along with....."do I have time to take it back to my car and then all thru security again if they say no?" (assuming you have a car at the airport)AlbatrossFlyer wrote:here's my general rule for any carry on item.
regardless of the posted and published TSA rules, can i live without it when TSA decides i can't carry on?

As a guy named Frank, I would have to agree with you. I remember being detained at Ft. Lauderdale by security with my twin nephews who were 1 at the time.Sanjuro's tequila wrote:Well to be frank, the TSA checkpoints are mostly just a deterrent and psychological re-assurance thing anyway.phjrsaunt wrote: I guess both Richmond AND Chigago are "big" aiports then...last year on my big adventure I unknowingly carried by pocket knife in purse through both airports, both ways and no one said a word.
