Did you register it?

It only runs for a few seconds if you don't register it.

1. No

Great Software

It is hard to beat actually. It will record anything that goes through your sound card drivers. Records MP3 on the fly.

total recording

Post by siegel5979 »

When recording from total recorder the resulting file is one big MP3 right? How do you then cut it down to individual tracks to record to a CD-R? Any help would be great. Thanks

Cool Edit 2000

Post by JohnsonA »

I've always used Cooledit2000 from www.syntrillium.com. It isn't a freebie though. It works will convert formats, remove the excess parts from the recording and break it into tracks. I've also used to clean recordings from old vinyl to make them sound like (or similar) new before burning them to CD.

You may also get some cheaper suggestions as well.

I cut the concerts into tracks with total recorder. It is a bit time consuming, but pretty easy to do.You just hit mark-listen to song(or advance it by 15-30 seconds till song is over) hit mark again--then save it.I'm using adaptec for burning the cd's,which I think is the same as roxio.Hope this helps.

If I save a show, I'll run it through the converter that comes with MusicMatch. File--->Convert. It'll let you spec the quality also.

Got Toal Recorder and CDwave editor. Downloaded some shows off of Jimmy Buffet Online. Exit Inn is a great show. Didn't know that the story in "A Semi-True Story" was on that show. My question is, does these shows that I'm downloading left and right, plus the CD wave editor and total recorder, do they make my computer slow down. After doing all this my computer was crawling. I've got a brand new Dell too. I've got about four shows. Has anyone eslse had a similar problem?

First make sure you have the full paid version of Total recorder. Then go to

http://www.maz-sound.com/archives/lame392.zip

and download this file. it is a great mp3 encoder. Unzip to your TR file in programs. Make sure the lame.enc.dll is located in the TR File. Then...

Go to options then settings in TR and change the Mp3 encoder to lame.

Change Quality to stereo if it isnt already and high quality.

Then goto Options then recording sources and parameters.

Check first box "Use recording parameters below"
then click change below.
Once again for format - Lame mp3 and for attributes click 128kb/s and 44,100 Hz stereo. Saave as "preferred" and click ok.

Now all your recordings will be in Mp3 format. You will also be able to easily cut tracks. If you are new at it I suggest a backup of the original when you start cutting them. (the tools for cutting are in the selection bar. If you cannot see the selection bar go to view and check show selection)

any more questions feel free to ask. I've been using this for about 3 years and it's worth all 12 dollars!

Woohoo! I attempted to get a free version off of Kazaa, but couldn't get it to work. I broke down and actually had to pay for the real thing! There goes a case of beer. Anyway, all is working perfectly now. I gave it a test record on RM. 2 minutes and 52 seconds of recording used up 2.63 MB of space (recorded as MP3). Will this still be too much to fit a whole concert onto a CD? I plan on recording the show tonight, and would like to be able to make a CD of it. Again, thanks to all who've helped me with my lack of computer intelligence.
