I'm A Cultural Infidel Monday @ the MSC

Post by SMLCHNG »

Good morning BN! :)

A few things to do around the home today, nothing crazy. I just need to get my new printer working.

Tho I'm inside most of the time, allergies are making my eyes water much too much.

It's going to be around 100 degrees today. HOPE for some rain in the next few days.

Have a good Monday!! :D

Good afternoon (by 10 minutes), Penny and all else who wander in!
Hope your allergies clear up! The nice weather is here, beautiful, and everyone should be able to go outside. Maybe a tad bit too hot today, though :-? :)
Jerry...from Massachusetts. I'd like to go where it's warm! :D

Good afternoon Penny and Jerry.

The heat index is already over 100. There's a tropical depression in the gulf that's expected to become a tropical storm later today. It'll be Tropical Storm Bertha. I wonder if somebody at the National Weather Service, or whoever picks the names for tropical storms, is a Deadhead. Bertha is the title of a Grateful Dead song.

Hey everyone!

I did a chair yoga session and then stopped at the local grocery store for 3 lottery tix to put in birthday cards. We've never bought tix for ourselves - just not our thing.

Our internet provider is coming between 12-4 bc our band width is jumping all over the place and dropping the connection too often.I think I'll head to the pool for a little while Kevin waits for them to show up.

Enjoy the rest of your day !

We have about 110,000 acres of wildfires here in the Upper LH Corner and the bluest skies you ever seen are not in Seattle.
Add in some higher than normal temperatures and things are miserable! :x

The only live recording that I could find... musta been his bathroom break song!

I'm a cultural infidel, paintin' in the dark
I'm a cultural infidel, singin' in the park

I'm a cultural infidel, comin' from the heart
Free thinkin', hoodwinkin', unblinkin', Mon
Start troubles, burst bubbles, join my caravan
Someone's got to talk about accountability
Someone's got to raise some hell, I guess it could be me

Loose-cannon, Armageddon preachers at the door
Spittin' poison at the boys and girls on the dance floor
I hear them in the congress, I see them on TV
I hope the inquisition remains a memory

Musta been!!

Sorry about your weather and fires. :( We're currently at over 194,000 acres are still burning. Some of the fires are now 50%+ under control, but the damage is awful. :(

I made my weekly brewery visit today, a place I had only been to once before. The first time was about a week after they opened and it was packed. Today it was crowded, but not as bad as the last time. I ordered lunch from the appetizer menu because I wasn't that hungry. I had chicken fingers and had to get a box to bring the leftovers home. I never had an appetizer that I couldn't finish. They give you 6 pieces of chicken but the chicken must have been King Kong size, it was a huge order. When I asked for a box the bartender told me not to feel bad, hardly anyone ever finishes them.

If I go back there again I'll have to ask the secret to signing in to their free wi-fi, I couldn't get Internet access while I was there.

Those chicken fingers are like what I get at Dukes. In fact the leftovers I brought home Friday, I just reheated in the oven for my lunch. Still couldn't finish the 4 I had left. :)

I caught a woodchuck! The luttle rat bast#rd dug more gravel out from under my garage. Cleanup starts if I don't catch more. That makes 14 woodchucks in 3 summers.

I had a great aunt named Bertha. Her husband was named Burt.

Sweet!
There's a woodchuck burrowing in my yard. It's been digging lots, too. Of course I haven't seen it yet, but I know it's there. Hiding, waiting. They can't chuck wood either, as far as I know!

:D :P I like that.

We don't have true woodchucks in Colorado. Have groundhogs, or their cousin Yellow-bellied Marmot. That's your nature lesson for today. :P

I had an Aunt Bertha too... but her husband was my Uncle Ernst! We did have two sets of neighbors once: Christine & Patrick who lived across the street from Christopher & Patricia, And yes, both couples went by the nicknames Chris & Pat! Talk about confusion! :o

Here's another "nature lesson": Woodchuck and groundhog are just different names for the same creature...

I just found out 2 years ago that groundhogs/woodchucks are members of the squirrel family.

And I hate squirrels. Was sliding a patio door YEARS ago (like 1987) and one was hanging out on the railing, jumped and bit my index finger. I flung it off the patio (2nd floor), but the spot on my finger is STILL numb to this day.

This reads like the killer rabbit inMonty Python's Holy Grail.

I don't blame you for hating the rodents.

Our daughter & Son-in-law have a groundhog family living under their 12' x 20' shed (that was built to look like a barn). It has a cement floor but those little buggers dig through the yard. The kids have tried everything to get rid of them. Next up is calling an "expert" to relocate them.
