Plowing Straight Ahead Come What May WEDNESDAY @ the MSC

Post by bodypainter »

Good morning BN. I was to plow into the day with dirty jobs, but it's too wet.
If I wasn't fishing in this all day rain,I'd be home doing something stupid.

Good morning Bill and BN! :)

No wet weather here, the mountains may get some today, and we MIGHT get some in the metro area tonight. Hope so.

Having dinner with two friends that E and I met (often) at Lone Tree, and different breweries. They now live in my part of town. It'll be nice to see them.

Otherwise not a lot going on.

Have a good Wednesday! :)

Great, just great. NOT. Since I moved, I get an email daily on what's going to be delivered to my mailbox. Today there's a picture of a Jury summons. :x

I got one of those back in January but I was dismissed within a few minutes of the judge coming into the courtroom. In South Carolina if you're 65 or older it's an automatic exemption from jury duty. You can serve if you choose to but they can't make you. I embraced my oldness.

Hmmm... wonder if that's the same in Colorado? Cause I AM 66. :D I'll have to look that up

Well, so much for that rule..
Yes, people over 65 are required to serve jury duty in Colorado. Colorado has no upper age limit for juror eligibility, meaning you cannot be excused solely based on your age.

I got summonsed last month by the King County Superior Court.

"Age-Related Exemptions
While there is no mandatory age cutoff, people aged 80 or older can request to be excused from jury duty if they are unable to serve due to health reasons. To do this, the individual must complete a court-provided attestation form stating that they are over 80 and unable to serve King County. The court is required to grant this request without needing a physician’s note, although a doctor’s letter can also support the exemption if desired."

I replied and told them that I was 76 years old with a heart condition and didn't know if I could sit in a jury box all day 'cuz I had to pee every half hour. "Your request to be excused has been approved. You are NO LONGER REQUIRED to report as instructed on your original summons date."

We've gotta roll with the punches
Learn to play all of our hunches
Make the best of whatever comes your way
Forget that blind ambition
And learn to trust your intuition
Plowin' straight ahead come what may
And there's a cowboy in the jungle

Good afternoon BN! :D
Just eating some leftover pizza. Windy City Works, from Uno's.

I've been doing some Alan Wake-inspired writing with MSWord. I've been listening to Coast of Carolina while doing so. With my new speaker!
Jerry...from Massachusetts. I'd like to go where it's warm! :D

Hi Mel, Jerry, and Mr. SPH! :)

Nope, no official excused in my county. I'll pick up my mail later, and see when my appearance is scheduled for.

Hi there! After a nap I worked on clearing shrubs and weeds for a gas line to the new generator, then I crawled under my studio to fill woodchuck holes. I am now done for the day.

I had to travel 50 minutes for jury duty and did so willingly 40 years ago. During the OJ trial it was mentioned that jury duty is the only indentured servitude in this country. Jurors on a federal case have less rights than those on trial

Good points there, Bill.

This will be the 6th time I've been called for Jury Duty. I've had to serve twice. One was a DUI case. I learned that you can be IN your car, not even running, even in the back seat, and you can still be charged with a DUI in Colorado.

I've been called four times. One time I just had to call in each Monday morning for a month and each time they didn't need me. Another time my employer asked that I be excused because of the important time critical project that I was the proposal lead on. And one time I served on a case where a one-armed homeless guy was cited for beating his dog while begging on the corner.

I went to Guy Fieri's new place, Downtown Flavortown, for lunch. It's in a mall in what used to be a JC Penney store and it's huge. Not just a bar and restaurant, they have arcade games. I had a Korean BBQ chicken sandwich and it was okay but nothing to write home about. They have their own beer, Flavortown Gold, brewed by one of our local breweries and I thought it was pretty good.

There's a Flavortown, without the Downtown, in Las Vegas and it's just a bar and restaurant, no arcade games. I thought the food was better in that one.

:D And it continues to rain/sprinkle. Not huge amounts, but it's helping.

Had a good dinner with brewery friends. :D

But I had to navigate around cones around the back of my driveway (they're working on some concrete areas of the parking lot) and I forgot to close my garage door. :o But all seems to be in order. :D Danielle (neighbor/former E's co-worker) texted me, but I missed the text.
