Good Morning Everyone!

Our house is empty again....kids flew back to PA yesterday evening

I'll head to chair yoga soon and then stop for a few groceries. We don't need much since I "doubled" up last week since the kids were here for 5 days.

We'll probably go to the beach later today....or maybe the pool. Decisions, decisions.

Today we celebrate John Ringling North (1903-1985) - Circus director and co-founder of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus. We caught this show once in Hershey PA when the kids were both small. It was cool.

Gonna wash some towels, but that's about all.

Cameron is doing some grocery shopping after work, and I'm gonna swing by and give him a ride home, lots of bags to carry.

More rain is expected this afternoon, and I'm good with that!

Good morning ladies. I loved the Walt Disney movie TOBY TYLER about a boy joining the circus. We had one come to town and I watched an elephant raise the big top. The whole affair seemed worn and dingy, even to this 10 year old.

I had a couple of things to do and I thought I'd go out before it gets too hot, the heat index is supposed to be about 110 today. There's a bad accident on Hwy 17 about a mile south of where I live. Three cars, 2 pickup trucks and an SUV. Traffic was backed up more than a mile. Lucky for me, not the people in those 3 vehicles, it was on the northbound side and I was going south so I missed it. I'll just have to take a different way home.

"Ringling Montana is an unincorporated community in southern Meagher County, Montana, along the route of US Route 89. The town was a station stop on the transcontinental main line of the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad ("the Milwaukee Road"); it was also the southern terminus of the White Sulphur Springs and Yellowstone Park Railway, which ran from Ringling to White Sulphur Springs. Ringling served as a community center for ranchers and homesteaders in the vicinity, but the town's population declined throughout most of the twentieth century as the region's agricultural activity dwindled. Both railroad lines were abandoned by 1980, and only a handful of people remain in the town today.
Ringling was originally called Leader, but was renamed for John Ringling of the Ringling Brothers Circus family when the White Sulphur Springs and Yellowstone Park Railway was built. John Ringling was a financier of the railroad, as well as its president. He also owned a summer home and spa in White Sulphur Springs, and considerable ranch land in the area."

Good afternoon BN'ers, Circus enthusiasts & those mildly interested in such.
I've been told somehow someway we were related to PT Barnum who was part of the Barnum & Bailey Circus that
eventually was purchased by Ringling Brothers. Never received any kind of inheritance checks of any sorts from Uncle PT so
whether that was just a myth or we were wayyyyyyyyyy down the food chain
As a kid we attended a few. I recall being somewhat excited when the Circus came to town.....but that subsided by the time I hit 10 it seemed.

Weekend menu seems rather sparse. No plans at this point. Big baseball series for the Tigers vs. the White Sox this weekend. Will keep an eye on that. Otherwise, only Time Will Tell what transpires.

It wasn't too bad. There are 2 Hwy 17s, Bypass and Business. The accident was on 17 Bypass. I took 17 Business coming home, it added about 1 1/2-2 miles to the trip.

There used to be a small chain of home improvement stores in the New York area called Pergament. It was like Lowes and Home Depot before Lowes and Home Depot. The company was sold in the late 1980s, then filed bankruptcy and went out of business about 10-15 years later. When I was working at the law firm there was a guy who was in the Pergament family. He said when the company was sold his part of the family was so far removed from the founders he got enough to put gas in his car for a couple of months.

Gosh I can't think of the last time I was at a circus. I remember my parents took us to MSG for one once... and I know Jim & I brought our kids to one in Boston once. I'm pretty sure it was when it was the Fleet Center, so that would narrow it down a bit. I am still talking 25+ years ago!

Larry - glad you were able to bypass the accident by not taking the bypass - oh, the irony!
Speaking of bad crashes... the other day there was a doozy on I-495... a car was T-boned!! How does that even happen on a highway? People are crazy with how they drive these day... but with no intersection involved, that one has me baffled!

Just like this morning, it was on the northbound side and I was going south so I cruised by. The way the ash wholes around here drive, I'm surprised I don't see 10 accidents a day. Speed limits are only suggestions, stop signs are optional, tailgating isn't just something you do at football games, hardly anyone uses turn signals. I always thought the worst drivers I ever saw were NYC cab drivers, then I moved to Myrtle Beach.

Speed limits are only suggestions, stop signs are optional, tailgating isn't just something you do at football games, hardly anyone uses turn signals. I always thought the worst drivers I ever saw were NYC cab drivers, then I moved to Myrtle Beach.

Just met Cameron at the grocery store, and glad I did. He had a LOT of stuff, after being sick earlier this week. He told me that everyone in his department have called out sick for one day or two.
