I Have Chalked Up Many a Mile Wednesday @ the MSC

Post by SMLCHNG »

Good morning BN! :)

Have some banking stuff to do today, then I'm going to stop by a baseball card store to see about selling all of the ones that E had. There's a lot of good ones there, but I don't know if they're of value, or not. The store has great ratings and reviews, so I hope it's a positive experience.

Have a good Wednesday!! :)

Good morning Penny and Debbie.

I wish I had kept my baseball cards. We moved from an apartment to a house when I was about 13 or 14 and I threw them out.

Micky Mantle, Yogi Berra, Whitey Ford, Hank Aaron, Stan Musial,Ted Williams... the baseball cards of my youth.
I think they all fell victim to the bicycle spokes of my childhood. I chalked up many a mile with them clothespinned to my Schwinn.

As a dreamer of dreams and a travelin' man
I have chalked up many a mile
Read dozens of books about heroes and crooks
And I learned much from both of their styles

:D All the kids in my IL neighborhood had baseball cards in their spokes. :D

Thanks for the music, Mr. SPH.

Off to run errands! :)

Back from errands. All successful, mostly. I had a great experience with the baseball card place. He was SO kind, even carried the bag of cards back to my car for me. :D He looked at a couple of cards that had signatures, and gave me a name/place so they can be "Authenticated". I have a Dave Winfield, Sandy Koufax, and a Mickey Mantle (that one was addressed "To Ron", and he got it in Oklahoma). So I still have some work to do IF I want to continue with the project. There were a LOT of cards that were over produced in the 80's, so not really worth anything.

Hi there! My contractor friend changed the bathroom faucet today. It was more labor intensive than the water heater and he charged 125$.

I bought some baseball cards as a kid, which was stupid as I didn't follow the sport. The gum with the cards was a tough chew.
If I wasn't fishing in this all day rain,I'd be home doing something stupid.

As much as I liked watching baseball as a kid (especially with my Dad), I never got into collecting the cards.
The noisemakers in my bicycle spokes were the Jokers from decks of playing cards.

My husband had quite a collection that his mom tossed out. She did the same to the cards his two brothers had, too.
Oh well... that's what can happen when your first apartment isn't big enough to bring everything with you... :(

I went out this afternoon but it was still hot so I walked the mall instead of the park. When I got out of my car I saw a guy walking through the mall parking lot dressed all in black, including a knit ski cap. It was 89 degrees and the heat index was 106.

Today was the first day of school but there were a lot of kids in the mall. I was there after lunch, I wonder if the first day was only a half day?

If I saw that I'd think he was preparing to rob something...

I was never a collector of baseball cards, but E was. Just trying to do what's right by him. :)

I retired ten years ago today and this has been the wallpaper on my computer ever since. It pretty much sums up retirement.....
