9-5 Wednesday @ the MSC

Post by Dr.Corona »

Good morning land of BN!
As most know Dolly Parton passed away yesterday. Some would say as her life moved along she became a sort of National Treasure.
A respected entertainer & Country & Western singer (anyone remember the Porter Wagoner show), she really burst onto the scene for non country music folks with her performance in the hit movie Nine to Five. Seemed her career went on such an upward trajectory from that point forward.
Can’t say I followed her music career immensely but much respect for all the “do good” she provided to so many.

Sail On Dolly!

Good morning Ken and Tammy.

Dolly did a LOT for many charities, as well. Many thought she was a "national treasure".. And not to mention Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.

It makes me sad that we lost her, but my personal opinion she died of a broken heart after her husband, Carl Dean, passed away. They were married for almost 59 years.

Nothing going on for me here today. Just a couple loads of laundry.

Have a good Wednesday. :)

Ah. Yeah, lots of fires this year. We've had them other years (especially when I read through my FB Memories), but have had big ones.

Sail on, Tim Curry.

By far the finest entrance in cinematic history.

Between Dolly and Tim passing it's been a tough day for drag queens all over the planet.

My favorite role of Tim Curry was in the movie "Clue". Full of great actors, but he was outstanding. :)

Yes she truly was a treasure and will be missed...
I don't think a broken heart causes cancer... but according to her own words, she spent so much of her time and energy taking care of Carl at the end of his life that she neglected her own health. But honestly, not knowing the details, doing anything earlier may not have helped...

I saw that earlier today too... :(
So I guess tomorrow can be Time Warp Thursday!

And the eerie thing is that they were both 80 (the age Jimmy would be turning this year) and JB knew them both, having had a brief role in Congo with Tim Curry.

I actually read more about what she said prior to her death, and I retract my thought. :( :(

We had some wicked hail here, and at my sister's house. Ahhh, we dropped from 82 to 60 degrees. I have windows and patio doors open. 😄 Humidity is at 63%, which is high for Colorado. Sister had some water leakage in their basement window wells..glad this happened when I wasn't there next week dog sitting.

I was thinking the same thing!! That hail would have been awful to deal with when taking your fur nieces outside! :o
I saw on FB you said it would have been 30" of snow!! That's crazy!! [smilie=boggl3y3dummy-ani.gif] Although in August it would not have stayed around very long!
