Earthquake Aftermath Monday @ the MSC

Post by Rabbitz »

Oh! The humanity! We had an earthquake here last night!

2.8 or something but you would think those on our community facebook page experienced a 10.0 earthquake!

It was a low rumble that was either a tremor or a truck going past. It turns out it was a tremor.

One comment was "it was like a bomb going off", upon reading this, my immediate thought was they've never been near a bombing range...

We suffered some minor damage, but we will rebuild! :D :D :o

Good morning.

I'm going to make another trip to the County Treasurer's Office, I got my property tax bill in the mail Friday. It isn't due until Jan. 15 but I want to get it out of the way.

Early voting started in South Carolina today. After I paid my property tax I was going to vote, one of the early voting spots is about 1/2 mile from the treasurer's office. I got there and the parking lot was full, cars were parked on the grass all around the perimeter of the lot and the line to vote was around the building. I'll try again some other time.

Afternoon!! Back from my massage. It was great. Even made me a little wobbly when done. The guy called it "Massage Drunk".

Sounds like there was TOO many people, Larry. :o I dropped off my ballot a few weeks ago, and already got notification that it's been received/counted.

When I decided to wait until at least tomorrow to vote I went out for lunch instead. I went to a Brazilian place I've been meaning to try, but I was disappointed. I had a Brazilian steak sandwich that was too salty and the meat was tough. I had 2 Brazilian beers, one was in a 7 ounce bottle (at least it was only $3.00), that were okay but nothing special. Maybe I'll give the place one more try and order something different before I cross it off the list.

Glad to see such a good turnout!
I was going to pay our property taxes and drop off our ballots today too because town hall is directly across the street from the grocery store, BUT I left both the bill with the check and both our ballots on the kitchen table... oh well! I still have 2 weeks before either has to be dropped off, but I'll probably be near there later in the week anyway. I should put the envelopes in my car so this doesn't happen again!

Rabbitz - I hope you can manage to get that picture straight again!

It took some effort (not) but we're all squared away!

Ironically, we have a concreter coming today, to quote replacing our concrete verandah floor which is breaking up. I wish we could blame the earthquake! It's not going to be a cheap thing to do.

However once that is done, we are looking at replacing the existing skillion (flat) roof with a big gable to stop it feeling so close and enclosed. This also won't be cheap!

If we spend the $50 or 60k now, I am sure we will recoup it in a few years when it's time to downsize.
