Which RM Stream do you record

Post by santa »

I just noticed today that the MP3 HIGH stream has a different (perhaps... fuller?) sound to it than the Windows Media stream.

I've been recording the shows (using total recorder) using the WM feed, but realized today that perhaps I should consider the RM or MP3 feed if the quality is better.

Of course, we just moved and I seem to get more "internet congestion" now than before.... so hopefully I won't miss any of the show this evening ;)

So which stream do you record (and why -- quality, preference for the feed...or just because)?

Thanks!

Not sure if you're on Windows, *nix or Mac. If you're on windows, I use (at the suggestion of the people on the board here smarter than me) Total Recorder.

Standard edition works fine for what we're doing.

If you have more questions, PM me. I'm not sure that I've have the answers (remember, Santa *sees* everything, but doesn't know everything) as I'm new to this myself.

Good luck.

It kind of depends on your connection, i have cable so i use the highest quality one, Windows Media high. Just make sure you don't record in Mono, it will make it sound terrible on cd.

So the "best" -- technically speaking -- is Window's media? I feel like this is something I should know, and yet I don't ;)

I was using windows media high, and I guess I'll continue to. Now if my connection (which rates around 2M down and 384 up) can just hold up tonight ;)

Point taken :)

I increased the buffer in Windows Media Player to 90 seconds to try to stave off any issues this evening :)

Cheers and enjoy the show. I'm going to be working on my bar for greatwoods ...

If you are on a Mac. Get Radio Lover($15) to record and you can do basic editing with itunes :D

Santa...did you happen to get a decent recording of the Pittsburgh show? I'd just love to find a copy under my tree.

I was hoping to check today and then the day got away from me -- well that and the fact that I am finally getting around to building a portable bar for next week in great woods.

Anyway, I'll check shortly and let you know how it turned out.

Not sure of the quality, but I got the whole show. PM tomorrow and we can figure out how to get you a copy.
