Why aren't Tape Trees more popular?

Post by flipflops »

I really thought this was a great idea, but I think OldFriendTheSquid and myself were the only people to kind of get this going. What a great way to share your shows with your fellow parrotheads at little cost to you. The way I see it, tape trees balance themselves out money wise.

In case you are worried about cost, it only cost $.60 to send a cd or two First Class through the US Mail. It costs about $.50 for the packaging and probably another $.40 for the cd-r. That's only $1.50!

I'd like to see more tape trees start, but if it fizzles, it fizzles.

Looks like there are 5 going right now. Not bad considering that is 5 more than I remember ever having in this forum.

I started one, probably will start another in the near future.

Like you said, the cost really is minimal.

PS flipflops: thanks for the Boarding House tree....great show!!!

Glad you enjoyed it! Didn't think about calling them "vines". Anyway, I should be getting the Columbia 2004 show in the mail any day now. There are a lot of people asking for it so, as soon as I get it, I'll put it out there.

I wonder if it would be possible to have some kind of request tree for shows. There would have to be some sort of way to monitor it, but that would definately be cool!

Let's keep the trees growing!

It would also be good to "reseed" since someone may have looked at a vine and decided that it was too long.

I guess there would be some loss in quality, unless the "new master" was a direct copy (not ripped to mp3 and then back)
When I get mine I plan on making a copy AND ripping MP3s

the way most vines work, is that you burn your copy and send the original seed to the next in line. that way, the last one on the list doesen't end up with a 25th generation copy, full of clicks and pops.

just my 2 cents,
