One of the TVs above the bar is showing a World Cup soccer game, Portugal vs. Spain. I'm not a soccer fan, I don't know which countries have good teams, but I'd like to see Portugal win. It's the fatherland.
A couple of years ago, we were able to trace our lineage back to the Franks' aristocracy (no, not the people who make the wing sauce). The Franks were one of the kingdoms that would later become France.
From there we traced back to Charlemagne. Although, that many generations back almost anyone of European descent can trace back to Charlemagne - it's simply exponential maths. Two parents -> Four Grandparent -> Eight Great Grandparents -> 16 Great Great Grandparents -> 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024 (etc).

It's now 91,000 acres. The 7th largest fire in Colorado history.

And so far their investigation shows human caused.
From my time as what would be called a forest firefighter in the US we believed there are really three main things that start bushfires:
Men, women and children.

I always considered Germany the Fatherland.
It's part of mine, my grandmother was from Germany, my grandfather was from Czechoslovakia.
I call it the Motherland as my mom was born there...
To be fair, my dad's lineage is mostly German as well, but a bit further back.
PS - thanks for the edit, Penny
