Hello everyone!

It's super hot here again but at least we got a huge downpour yesterday which helped our lawn & flowers.

A few minutes ago I went out the front door to go into the garage. Not sure why I didn't go through the laundry room. Anyway....when I rounded the porch column, Elijah (the 8yr old from across the street) was trying to grab the new full size pit bull that now lives there (yes with the 9 kids and 2 adults). He was having a hard time since the dog didn't have a collar nor a leash, and the dog came out towards me -- I got back on the porch and yelled at them both. I followed them both off of our lawn and yelled if it comes over here again we will call the police. The kid muttered something under his breath.....maybe he said "I'm sorry"

First real frost of winter. This is quite late in the season but it has been quite damp so the cloud cover has stopped the frosts.

We haven't got to bud burst yet on the vines, so the roar of the frost fans was noticeably absent.

The endless drizzle and miserable weather has been getting to me. Yesterday, as I pulled on my boots to take the puppy for him walk I realised why.

I am sick and tired of wet boots, cold toes and mud.

The aforementioned puppy is sitting here yapping at me, apparently it's walk time but at zero degrees C, I doubt that he'll be so enthusiastic when I open the door! :o :o

Linda, I'm glad the dog didn't come at you and cause harm!!!

That I can't say that here... I picked up dog poo, filled bird feeders, bird water bath, and watered 9 large planters. At least I could use hoses to do the watering, and not a large watering can. :D

I had a productive day. I grocery shopped, drank beer and ate a Cuban sandwich. Now maybe I'll have some ice cream.

SMLCHNG wrote: July 15, 2026 10:44 am Great. I have a wasp in the house. Saw it on a window, went and got the fly swatter, and it flew away, somewhere. I HATE them. And don't want it to sting one of the pups. :-?
Not a fan of them either, but Jim really gets freaked out, so I always have to "deal" with them. They usually get "tired" in the evening and end up on the floor. I put a glass over them, and in the morning, I slide a cardboard under the glass and bring it outside. I am afraid to swat at them, miss, and make them angry! :o

I'm also allergic to them, made me swell up when I was stung as a kid. Ron or Cameron used to help me deal with them as I hid in a room. :-? I would have never been able to sleep or sit in the living room knowing one was in the house. :o Luckily I was able to swat/squish it into the window behind the blinds (made out of material, not plastic) so I could kill it. I also sprayed it with window cleaner before I did all that. :D

I can understand how an extra hour of daylight in the evening would be nice, but I'm not sure about a 9:00 am sunrise here in the northern climes.

Keep cool, everyone!
I find it interesting that all the charts I've seen promoting winter DST never show real northern cities and they used December 1 as their benchmark. I remember living in MN, and in standard time, the sun did not come up until about 8:30 in January! :o

I'll be honest, without kids getting a school bus in the morning anymore, I no longer care either way, but they should be more fair in their assessment.

As to the heat... we were supposed to be under a heat advisory today, but the smoke from the northern wildfires, besides making the sky an eerie yellowish color, it also shielded us from the sun and its heat... I don't think we got out of the 70s.

Me too! Yet I landed in Boston for the afternoon (again :) )

I boarded the German tall ship, and spoke to a sailor. He asked what I did, and I talked about my writing. He found my mystery plot very intriguing! And then he shook my hand and said "Keep it up." We took a selfie.

That's my evening. His name was Louis Wenzel. :pirate:

In the TMI category, every time I drink a glass of Metamucil I think of Tang 🤣

Canadian wildfire haze has moved into Michigan. Upper Peninsula is a mess with limited vision. Late this afternoon it made its way to our area. Not pleasant but oh well. My right eye is still in a haze from my cataract surgery yesterday so I guess it’s haze on haze for me. 🤷🏻‍♂️
