Golden Cadillac
Pink Lady (Pink Squirrel)

We're in Palm Springs area for this week, actually in Indian Wells, at Hyatt, etc., and just ordered these in the piano bar while watching the end of the Texas/OSU bball game... the bartender did not know what they were and had to look them up in his bar book, but the (older) waitress was delighted to bring them, wished more people ordered them as they are clasic 'cream drinks' which serve as dessert, in a way.

We also thought of:

Brandy Alexander
Grasshopper

Made in new plastic garbage can , 2 days before the party...

LOTS of vodka, and rum....

Fruit Juice...and cut up fruit....cherries, oranges, etc....

Best consumed on a beach, at night...with a bonfire and Beach Music playing....

You could get drunk off just eating the fruit! [smilie=battingeyes.gif]

We were just talking about old drinks again the other night.

One of our friend's favorite drink is a Rusty Nail.

I've never enjoyed Scotch and I've never tried Drambuie so didn't try one, but mr conched did and didn't even finish it. :)

We also talked about Purple Jesus and hubby remembers it as Hairy Buffalo too.

One old drink that I still enjoy is a Colorado Bulldog. Add coke to a White Russian.

For anyone who likes older-style drinks, I highly recommend picking up a copy of Ted Haigh's Vintage Spirits & Forgotten Cocktails. It's a fantastic collection of recipes from the golden age of cocktail culture. I'm slowly working my way through it, and most of the recipes I've tried have been great.

One note: Unless you maintain a superbly stocked home bar, you will likely have to make trip to the liquor store to pick up a few of the more obscure ingredients. But it's worth the trouble. And if I can find most of them in Pennsylvania (a.k.a. Land of Crummy State-controlled Liquor Stores), then you should have no problem.

Bottoms up!
