Good morning Linda and BN! :)

I'm off this morning to the DMV to get my new car registered so I can put my SMLCHNG plates back on the car, instead of the temp tag. Then I'm going to head over to my sister's house to bring them a new flag, that celebrates the U.S. 250th. Just a little gift for no reason. :) And I have to deal with Fidelity to get E's 401K transferred to my IRA. Fun Fun.

Another warm day today, with a SMALL chance of some rain.. Needed much.

Have a good Thursday!! :)

Good morning Linda and Penny.

It looks like a pretty nice day outside. I have a couple of errands to run, maybe I'll stay out and enjoy the weather when I'm done.

I got nothing.

Can't go anywhere - diesel is now over $12.50 a gallon, if you can find any.

Food prices have sky rocketed.

I loved the Beach Boys!! So did one of my brothers. :) Thank you.. :)

The trip to the DMV went well. Then I went over to my sister's house...My BIL likes the new flag for the 250th 'birthday', and I brought a mini urn of E's ashes to my sister. Oh, and a bunch of the plastic hangers that E always liked his clothes on. I already gave Cameron his.. Then I went to UPS to ship the other little urns to his family in Oklahoma. Stop at the grocery store, and a Subway 6" sandwich. I'm tired.. but glad I got everything done.

Count me in on loving the Beach Boys too! :D

Glad your DMV visit went well and your car is finally YOU!

So I guess that means E's relatives in OK are not coming to his Celebration of Life... that's a shame.

Not much going on at Chez Soul today, just the typical Thursday laundry & cleaning, and my last day of cat sitting for my neighbors. Not a big deal I just needed to go to their house twice a day.

Nope, they're coming..But I don't want to take the chance of them being told no by putting them in their suitcases. The little urns can't be
X-Ray'd so that's a no no.. :) They'll only be here for one day, however...

And kudos to you... I would never have considered that the TSA would have an issue with urns!! :o

I doubt that you have anything to apologize for Elaine! On our travels people ask me whatinthehell is wrong with Americans and I alway tell them "don't blame me, I didn't vote for him." Ever, not in 2016, not in 2020, and certainly not in 2024. And I sure as hell won't vote for him in 2028 (if he even bothers to have an election).

While I don't blame any of you directly, so there is no need to apologise.

Sadly, the truth remains that the western world has lost its respect for the USA. In fact most are now openly mocking.

The damage that this administration has done to allies, combined with poor treatment we have received (insults, threats, tariffs, etc) is now manifest in the fact no one is willing to help, even to our own short-term detriment. The way back from this will be almost eternal and few are willing to be seen to be on the wrong side of history.

There is a lot to be said for a compulsory, proportional and preferential voting system. When 35% of eligible voters don't vote, then the door opens for a wannabe dictator to waltz through that door.

If I had a some spare cash I would be going to an SP bookie and putting it all on the bet that the 2028 US elections will be "postponed".

It was curiously noticeable that while travelling a month or so ago, anyone we met who was Canadian wore maple leaf pins and patches, to avoid being thought of as being from the US. We saw this many times.

At one place we were sitting in a poolside bar, chatting with other travellers, as one does. This table happened to be a group of retired Canadians on a pilgrimage to various tropical countries to avoid the cold, who were quite angry. A group of US folk, one of which was wearing a MAGA hat sat near our table and one of then started up about the 51st state annexation thing. As one, the Canadians stood up and asked if they would like to revisit the Battle of Quebec* here and now. The other table left. There is palpable anger but it is directed at those responsible.

*I had to later ask what the Battle of Quebec was :D

Ahem... I'm surprised, too.. When we were all in Oklahoma for 4 days... I know they have a business to take care of, but sheesh.. And I looked up the info on various airlines, that's the only way I knew it. :)

Thanks! I know I had no part in it either, but I have friends and relatives in several different countries... and they ask me, repeatedly ... HOW could this man EVER have been elected not only once, but then... AGAIN!?! :o I have no answers... just embarrassment...
