Happy FOURTH OF JULY @ the MSC

Post by bodypainter »

Good morning BN. I'm grilling Italian sausages for lunch served on the gazebo if there are no storms.
If I wasn't fishing in this all day rain,I'd be home doing something stupid.

The ball game last night was great -- 1st win for the Pelicans after a 4-game losing streak. The weather was great -- not ungodly hot and there was minimal humidity. Every once in a while an actual breeze came :). The fireworks were amazing. Kevin stayed home and slept for 3 hours while I was gone.

We will probably spend a little time at the pool today -- no way are we going to the beach on July 4.

The same neighbors that got us the free ballgame tix are hosting dinner this evening at 6 (not a cook-out -- too hot for that). The food is mostly cold salads & apps. Hoping Kevin will feel well enough to go along.

Be safe out there today.

Good morning Bill, Debbie, Linda and BN! :)

Happy Independence Day to you all!! She's 250 years old, and doesn't look a day over 249. :P

No plans here. The Rockies DO have a fireworks show, but I can't see them from here. And am NOT going downtown for it.

I might run to the grocery store for a few things. Maybe.

Linda, I hope Kevin is getting some better?

Have a good day! :)

Hey Penny, Bill, Linda, Debbie, and all else who wander in on this Fourth of July! :D

I am headed to the Bar Harbor Parade at 945 or so! It's within walking distance from the hotel luckily enough. Then I'm off to Sand Beach, meeting up with a few friends near Thunder Hole, and then to the Town Concert.

And lastly fireworks! I made a tie dye just for today :D :D
Jerry...from Massachusetts. I'd like to go where it's warm! :D

Good morning all. Watching the tall ships sail into New York. Led by the USCGC Eagle.
I remember watching Op Sail '76 50 years ago this day as a 20 year old 3rd class petty officer in the Coast Guard.
Despite 100+ temperatures yesterday the lamb roast at my sister's house was a big success.
Who's got the rum?

Happy 4th of July everyone.

There are some local fireworks shows tonight but I'm not going to any of them, too crowded. When I lived on Long Island I never went into NYC to see the Macy's fireworks show either. I'll relax with a cold beer in air conditioned comfort.

I was reading the news online this morning and the top 5 stories were about Taylor Swift's wedding. Really, that's the most important thing going on?

Good late morning & Happy 4th Gang!
As we roll into our 250th birthday I reflect to where I was for #200. I recall where I was for the fireworks display that night but beyond that it’s a bit foggy. Most likely hanging with my cousins….which means yes…..I most likely WAS foggy :o IYKYK [smilie=happydance.gif] [smilie=happydance.gif]
Low key here for me today.

Temp is dropping below 90 today so while the humidity is still up at least was able to open windows for a spell this morning. But just closed everything back up.

Enjoy gang!!

The parade was amazing :D
My favorite float though was the lumberjack one! There were a few people onboard and one by one, they started chopping up logs. Revved their chainsaws! Lots of fun for the 250th :D :D

Hopefully I can catch some of the New York INR action on tv. The Eagle is one ship I'd like to see in person!

The Chicago Cubs have several pitchers on the injured list. They made a trade with the Mets a few days ago to get a starting pitcher. The ex-Met started yesterday's game for the Cubs. He didn't make it through the 4th inning and he allowed 10 runs. Maybe they should have just brought up a pitcher from the minor leagues.

Fireworks are illegal in Seattle. That means that the assault on our eardrums has been going on for the last week or so and will only last for another couple of weeks. Tonight it'll sound like the Tet Offensive. Everyone be safe out there!

They are illegal in most of the entire state, there are SOME professional shows going on. I'm SHOCKED :o that I haven't heard ANY during this past week. Maybe they are getting the hint, based on the fires going on in the state.

Hi Kids!

Lowkey 4th here for me. Napped for a bit and now I am listening to the Tiger game. We just had a rain storm come through—we needed the rain, and a few rumbles of thunder. The sun is back out now, and my neighbors’ outdoor party has moved back to their lawn. Their guests were crammed under the overhang of their pole barn for a while there.

Like Ken said, our temps are manageable today. I am sure it will be sticky now that sun is back out. I am totally content in my comfy chair near a fan.
well, ummmmmmm, yah, I guess I better come up with something witty to put in this spot since everyone is reading it.......

Right there with ya! I saw the Macy's fireworks ONCE, and it was when we lived in CT. Jim's company was one of the sponsors, and we had a hotel room in NYC and VIP passes to the grandstand. I have to say it was pretty cool. 8) BUT all the years (30 of them) on LI, I never went to the city We used to watch the ones in Salisbury/Eisenhower Park in East Meadow. As a kid from a relative's backyard and in later years, my friends and I would watch from the Endo building on Stewart Avenue.

And yeah... I can't believe the media frenzy over that wedding!
