Tidal Pool Explorer Tuesday @ the MSC

Post by SMLCHNG »

Good morning BN! :)

Nothing on the agenda today except picking my parking location for the DU Hockey games.

I'll have more to do tomorrow to get ready for their return. I'll vacuum tomorrow, and wash sheets/towels on Thursday before I pick them up. :)

Have a wonderful Tuesday!!

Good afternoon BN

Looks like you've been left on the Island today Penny, ala Robinson Caruso style.
Looking out the window & the feel of the weather out the open front door, seems odd to talk about hockey season but I know its just around the bend. Our CHL Junior team here in town is in camp with exhibition games underway.
NHL I believe is 2 weeks away from training camp.
Having taken no summer getaways this year up to now, being able to do some Coastal Confession sounds pretty good right now :pirate:

Afternoon, Ken. Yeah, it was getting kinda lonely in here. ;)

First DU game is October 17th, which is also the 50 year anniversary of my moving to Colorado. :)

Just another day in the life... thinking about what I can put off until tomorrow. 🤔

Couldn't find a full concert video, just this snippet:

Hi there! We had a tidal pool in Maine we would visit every year. Most pools there have seaweed and it is too slippery to navigate, but our pool had solid rock.
If I wasn't fishing in this all day rain,I'd be home doing something stupid.

Morning All.

Spring has sprung, our stone fruit trees have started to flower and the grape vines are just starting bud burst. It is the time of renewal and weeds...

So many weeds, literally, two acres of weeds. We have finally got some dry weather, so inevitably, I have been working in the yards and orchard. I went to the service station (gas station) in our village, it is three pumps, general store and take-away, there were three utes on the driveway all filling up mower fuel cans!

Oh, this morning while cleaning up the kitchen and making (proper) coffee, Take Another Road came on the music system. Although I have heard it hundreds of times and know the words it was the first time I have actually listened to it. It is a very clever song that intertwines the adventure of losing yourself in a novel and losing yourself in an adventure.

I read a fair bit, but haven't read a novel for the sake of escapism for the longest time. I think that needs to change :D I may have to consult the piles of unread books and find something to take away into the Flinders Ranges in a couple of weeks...

Sorry to leave Penny & Ken alone for so long. I slept in until 8:30 which is late for me.

Sad thing is I can't tell you much of what I even did today. I've been feeling a little "off".....slight headache and just feeling tired. I went for a walk in the hood since it was 80 with 60% humidity and an awesome breeze and that made me feel a little move alive but still not quite right

Kevin & I removed and cleaned the Cabana vinyl windows on 2 of the 3 sides (they come out like window screens but there is a full length of screen still there. That was time consuming but the look through them is a HUGE improvement!

We don't have anything scheduled for dinner but it sounds like we'll air fry some Tyson brand buffalo chicken strips and make some veggies.

I'm back to dealing with the endocrinologist now to work on my osteoporosis issue (70% risk fracture in my left hip and I didn't remember hearing before that my entire back is at risk !!! ). She put in lab orders for a 24 hr urine collection (my 3rd due to my kidney stone issue) and some blood tests that I've never heard of for the possible parathyroid issue.

Anyway......enjoy what you have left of your day.

Now I have the song stuck in my head...

Well I'm a tidal pool explorer
From the days of my misspent youth
I believe that down on the beach
Where the sea gulls preach
Is where the Chinese buried the truth

So I dig in the sand
with my misguided hands
and if I dig deep enough
Hell I just might dig it up
Talking about treasure
Talking about pleasure
Talking about love

Now I'm a reader of the night sky
And a singer of inordinate tunes
That's how I float across time
Living way past my prime
Like a long lost baby's balloon

So I hang on to the string
Work that whole gravity thing
But when my space ship goes pop
Back to the earth I will drop
Into the sea
Or the limbs of a tree
Or the wings of my love

And I don't know what I'm supposed to do
Maybe invent me a story or two
I've got coastal confessions to make
How bout you
How bout you

They say that time is like a river
And stories are the key to the past
But now I'm stuck in between
Here at my typing machine
Trying to come up with some words that will last

It's so easy to see that we live history
And if I just find the beat
I know I land on my feet
I always do
Hadn't got a clue
Does it comes from above

And I don't know what I'm supposed to do
Maybe invent me a story or two
I've got coastal confessions to make
How bout you
How bout you

So bless me father, yes I have sinned
Given the chance I'll probably do it again
I don't need absolution
Just a simple solution will do

So let's talk about the future
Or the consequences of my past
I've got scars, I've got lines
I'm not hard to define
Just an altar boy coverin' his ass

I know I can't run and hide
But just hang on for the ride
There will be laughter and tears
As we progress through the years
But still it's fun
Hey I'm not done
Gonna dance 'til I fall

And I don't know what I'm supposed to do
Maybe have me a boat drink or two
It's just the coastal confessions I hear
Tell the truth
Tell the truth

I've got some coastal confessions to make
How 'bout you, how 'bout you, how 'bout you, how 'bout you
And you, and you, and you
42 years since my last confession
Well father, do you have the rest of the week?
Let's get started
I had impure thoughts
I smoked some pot
Stole some peanut butter
Father, wake up.

Is there another songwriter ever that has used "inordinate" in a lyric? The man was a master songwriter, never given his due.....

Piggybacking the "song of the day" with your thoughts Rabz reminds me of my fond memories of vacaying in Myrtle Beach for a stretch of years & sitting oceanside under Uncle Umbrella reading while my wife Carol worshipped the Sun Gods & enjoyed her R&R. If I could turn back time......

Good evening ladies and gentlemen and children of all ages.

It was a beautiful day and I spent part of it leisurely strolling through the park listening to my iPod.

The NFL season starts tomorrow. When did they start playing on Wednesday?

Larry, since streaming ruined sports watching. Although tomorrow is on NBC, Thursday game is on crapflix.

Ever since the NFL scheduled a game Thursday down under in Rabbitzland and then Seattle and New England said “hey, wait a minute, aren’t we supposed to be the opening game of the season?”

Acording to my buddy Al,
Why the Seahawks and Patriots Are Playing on Wednesday?
The Seattle Seahawks vs. New England Patriots game on Wednesday, September 9, 2026 is the NFL’s Kickoff Game — the first regular-season matchup of the year — but it’s being played on a Wednesday for the first time in 107 years.

Why Wednesday Instead of Thursday?
Normally, the NFL season opener is on a Thursday night. This year, the league moved it to Wednesday to avoid a scheduling conflict with the NFL’s first international game. The San Francisco 49ers vs. Los Angeles Rams will open the season in Melbourne, Australia, on Thursday, September 10. Because of the time difference, that game will be a Thursday night kickoff in the U.S.

E and I stopped watching the NFL in the last 5 or so years. Mostly because OF the NFL, and refs, and players. They just got stupid overall.

MsMod, have you played much with your Echo Dot yet? One of our favorite things to do is say things like "Alexa, play music from the 60's" (or whenever.... ) Tonight's music includes "King of the Road', "At Last", "All Shook Up", "Rockin' Robin", "Flying Purple People Eater", "Chantilly Lace", "My Baby Does the Hanky Panky", "Who Put the Bomp (in the Bomp, Bomp, Bomp)" and others. I sang along to all of them. "See", I explained to Mrs SPH, "the reason I don't remember what I did yesterday is because my brain is full of all these lyrics from the 60's!"
