Ok, I recorded the show last night with TR, using a MP3 format per Shrimper Dan's instructions. Now when I hit stop it brought up a converting bar and it litterally took all night to convert this file. I went to bed and this morning it stil wasn't done converting before I went to work. Is this normal? The file was about 2 hours and something long, is that a factor?

it shouldnt take that long at all. What processor, what memory and what is running in the background. I set the timer and let it record. no problems.

Always record in WAVE. MP3 is compressed. Make your first burnt copy as WAVES then if you wanna back up a copy just convert them to MP3 to save hard drive space

Beginning with Version 3.0, Total Recorder writes a ready-to-use wav or mp3 file without saving an intermediate working file. A save operation usually just renames (moves) the working file and is almost instantaneous regardless of the file size. However, the following situations will prevent this and require copying of the entire file.

The file is being saved to a different drive, either physical or logical, than the drive that stores the working file. Use "Options"-"Settings", "Open/save" tab to change the location of the working file.
The file format changes, The header type changes from RIFF-WAV to MP3 or vice versa. The file is being normalized. The existing file was appended with new data, new data was inserted, or the file was edited. Adding or removing the ID3v2 tag. Editing the ID3v2 tag may require a full file copy.

Adding, removing, or editing an Ogg Vorbis tag requires a full file copy.

Note that changing the ID3v1 tag does not prevent a fast save operation.

I recorded one of the replay shows a few weeks ago, I recorded it in wav and then converted it to 160 mp3 at the highest encoding quality. It took about 8 hours so I can symapathize with you. Other things I have converted to 128 with a medium encoding quality did not take nearly as long.
