Try this one...it's interactive. To find mint leaves check the garden center at Wally World or your locala natural health food store type place. Mint leaves are a must. Without them it's no more than rum and sugar

From the BN Cookbook -- PHruitcakes in the Kitchen
2 oz. light rum
1 lime, halved
2 t powdered sugar
Mint Leaves
Club Soda
Place sugar, 2-3 phresh mint leaves (or large pinch dried mint leaves) and a splash of soda water in a pint glass. Use muddler to lightly press mint and dissolve sugar until it smells of mint. (*I use the back of a large spoon.) Squeeze both halves of the lime into the glass, leaving one half in the glass. Add rum, stir, and fill with ice. Top off with club soda. Garnish with a sprig of mint. Serves one.
Monin also has a mint flavored "syrup" you can use instead of the sugar/mint mixture. Plain sugar works as well as powdered sugar, too.
The Bacardi website has a good recipe, too.

I have just started straining the mint out before serving and just using a sprig for garnish, as the leaves seem to get in the way.
It's my favorite summertime adult beverage.
Enjoy!

the bartender at the cuban restaurant i go to mixes up the lime juice, mint and sugar ahead of time so the flavors really come alive, not to make the drink faster.

that doesn't sound very pleasant....
I gotta find a good Cuban restaurant around here. Either that, or I have to go back to Manhattan, to Victor's. Better mojitos than in KW!
