Recording from RM

Post by BuffettHound »

Hey All,
I need help recording shows off of RM. I have 2 Questions......

1. How do you set the scheduler in Total Recorder (4.4PRO)
2. When I record with Advanced MP3 Recorder one channel is always stronger than the other, even though the settings are the same. This gives me "murky" recordings when I burn to CD

Thanks in advance for your help!

Can't remember how to do the timer thing, might look at home later for you.

I advise against recording directly to MP3. I found the sound quality not so great, especially when dubbing out to CD.

I recommend recording to wav at the highest possible settings, then cutting the show into smaller wavs, then converting to mp3.

Just note recording the shows as wavs eats up mucho hard drive space (roughly 2 GB per show)

If you look at the levels live, the left channel is always slightly higher than the right channel. I don't know why, but thats the way it leaves Radio Margaritaville, so there isn't much you can do about it unless you increase the volume in the other channel by hand in post processing.

I use an app. named Audacity for editing the shows. It allows me to amplify the channel that is lower.

The help file explains the scheduler in detail.

Thanks All

Think I got it, was having trouble getting it to "tune" But it's good now. Have tested on Buffett Buffet, with good results.

As for the louder channel, looks like it is a RM thing...

Replay Radio and MP3 Magic

Post by RMM »

I use ReplayRadio ( http://www.replay-radio.com - cost $30) to record the programs. They have 3 different ways to record, WAV, MP3, and MP3 with Real One. I use MP3, as I had trouble with WAV.

I am getting EXCELLENT recordings except for the Denver concert, which was not the software's fault (internet transmission problems - sound is good, though). Other concerts sound great!

NOTE: I desperately need a good, complete recording of the Denver concert (2004). Mine is missing several songs and only has parts of others. I would also like a copy of the 2003 concert if anyone has it.

I then use MP3 Magic (from Replay Radio - cost $10) to edit the concerts, which I then burn to CD's using Roxio EasyCD 5.0.

Hope this helps.
