Is it worth my $24 to upgrade to the professional edition of Total Recorder?

The only difference I see is that Total Recorder can launch your streaming media player application, such as Windows Media Player, Real Player, etc. I think it'll also shut it down for you, so its not playing all night long if you schedule a show. This would be valuable to someone with a dialup who doesn't want their phone tied up for many hours after the show is finished.
Also, you can launch an application with Windows Scheduled tasks, however, sometimes schedules tasks doesn't always shut the app. down when it should.
That's the only real plus I see for paying the extra $24 for pro.

You can also edit sound files, split the file...(I never use that feature anyway since I use a editor for that)
http://www.highcriteria.com/
For the features in both.
Adman is right, the selling point to me was the launching of the player. (If you have firewall make sure you allow TR and your player access). Thats the only reason I have it.
Reduces the chances for the player to buffer out and lose the connection while I wasn't home.

The self launch is well worth it IMO. How else could you ba AT the show AND record it at home!!

I'm not familiar with the other software, but Replay Radio will let you set up as many concerts as you want, with the date, time to start, and time to stop. I've used it many times with EXCELLENT results, both in sound quality and recording just what I want.
You can get a free demo to try it out (no credit card required) at their website
http://www.repaly-radio.com . They also have a very good editor (MP3 Magic).
NOTE: I have just been reminded that the demo only allows you to record for a few minutes to see if you like it. You cannot record an entire concert. Sorry for the error.
