Traders (or traitors) who drop the ball

I've had a couple experiences where I agreed to a trade with someone - mailed mine, but never received their part in return. I've tried PMing, and emailing, with no response. How far do you guys go trying to track them down? Do you go beyond electronic mail, and write a letter? Do you try to dig up a phone number and pester them? Or do you chalk it up as a learning experience and move on?
I always think the worse, that they died or were badly injured... but hope that isn't the case. But for that, I would forgive them!

this is a problem that shows up here once in
a while. It seems that a lot of the vines are
getting stalled and dying as well.
Maybe there should be a thread here naming
people to be avoided on vines and when trading

Remember Mary Ann from Cybill?
She had great tactics to get back at Dr. Dick!!!!!!
Sorry about your bad experiences, JoAnn. It wasn't with someone on OUR boards, was it?

I've had trouble with a Tom Small on this list, and a Sammy Backert on another Buffett list - sent my package but couldn't get an e-mail reply after it was recieved.
at the time, I kept a thread going that made me feel better, and also warned others not to trade with them. I did get a few pm's on how they had burnt others - so I think a 'bad traders list' or post it would be justified.
just gotta accept that there is scum out there! and it wouldn't surprise me if this scum was taking the cds to ebay. just my 2 cents...

I agree. That would send the people off to other boards. However, someone could easily change screen names. You would probably need to list the screen name and/or e-mail plus the zip code. That way someone could PM a questionable address.

Yep...
A few different peeps who used to post regularly, but disappeared... that's why I wonder if something happened to them, or what the deal is.

I have been on other trading sites that have a list of bad traders. The info usually includes name and address and what happened. People can change screen names easily but not addresses.

I think it's very generous of you to assume they are dead.

I think it should be this thread. I also think it should be made a sticky so I sent a PM to Auntie. If you have a bad trade experience and you can't get them to respond, post the person's screen name as a warning to others.
Tiki Bar - if you don't mind, it would really help if you could consolidate all of the names by editing your original post. With the thread being a sticky, that would keep the list of names at the top of this forum for all to see.

I've made this a sticky. Just so you know, I'm "pretty" sure that the originator of any thread can make it a sticky after the fact by selecting "edit' on their original post.

I'll be happy to add names, but out of respect for the dead, I hate to name names of the ones I've encountered.
Since my original post, I've mailed letters, but still haven't gotten a response. But you can bet your bippy if I see 'em round these parts, I'll give them a final chance, otherwise add 'em to the wall of shame.

We do need a "vine killer" list, I agree. Just one coment though, lets make sure that it is justified. I had a problem on one vine where I did not receive the CDs...... they just went into thin air...... I have been involved in many over the past year plus, and thats the only time I "killed" a vine (we got it going again)
Again, I would hate to falsely accuse someone...........

I mailed one guy who runs his own little website about 5 Jim Morris cds at once and he never came through on his end of the deal or responded.
And I know he's not dead since I've seen him post since then

I have only been burned by one person in all the trades I have done through BN........and he is still posting requests (as recently as last night!)
I say start the list of people who aren't true parrot heads and don't do what they say they will do!

guess i should have read the other post, instead of just looking at the list...seems like small did mail these cds - still burnt me on the 2nd hawaii show about a year back, SO I STILL THINK HE SHOULD BE ON THE PLACK BALL LIST!

Is this thread for people not to trade with or people who kill vines? Because the Columbia vine was killed by someone. Like Captain, I won't post it until I've been told it's ok.
