FTP Question

I am attempting to logon to an FPT site. I am using IE6. After logging on I get this little "searching flashlight" but the page has a white background. Any ideas what the problem is? I was using IE7 but deleted that thinking it was the problem. Mozilla won't even open the site. I'm at a loss for answers. Help......

If you PM me the site, I can try to open it with Firefox and IE here. At least we'll know if the site is up or not. :-?

I know the site is up because I got a PM telling me to logon.
Hummm, wondering if Norton is blocking it???

Good guess. Have you been able to get in before, with the same computer?

No, never and at first I thought it was because I had upgraded to IE7. I uninstalled the IE7 upgrade and tried again. I think I will turn off Norton and see what happens. More to follow ;-)

It could also be an issue with passive/active FTP. If I remember correctly IE only does passive.

I'm using IE7 and just got to the site.

The best thing I can suggest is to always attempt to log on from here: http://www.buffettnews.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=35394

I tried saving the site address as a favorite but the favorite didn't always work. So I've saved the link above instead.

Give that a try.

And where might I find that little gem of a program??

I just checked my IE internet options and looked at the Advanced tab. There is something checked that says Enable folder view for FTP sites. SHould that be unchecked?

TIA

No you want to view the folders. That option is how you view an FTP site. Folders is a good thing. Folders are your friend. :pirate:

I just tried in Firefox and IE7 and I was able to login on both.

Update: When I go in through IE7, the FTP site won't let me download anything. Firefox worked fine.
