Easy way to get tons of JB shows from the 70s and 80s

Dear BN Friends—
I found this board in November after I heard about the show in Aspen in December, and have really enjoyed the sense of community here and the willingness to do things for others.
I’d like to continue that spirit by offering a variety of shows from the 70s and 80s as a “Pay It Forward” type of vine. Here’s the details:
I have a wide variety of shows that I’ve collected from the 70s and 80s, some soundboard stuff, some from radio shows, and a few good audience recordings as well. Some clearly have been dubbed from cassette tape to cassette tape, while others sound great.
Most of these shows are in MP3 files. Some have been converted from Real Media files to MP3s. Many are split track by track, while others are a whole show as a single MP3 file. Like Jimmy, a mixed bag of things, and a little rough around the edges. I’m sure someone could clean these up a bit, but I thought it would be good to get the shows in people’s hands. (Perhaps a 2.0 version could come out after someone with the time and ability to edit the sound gets it…) At any rate, all of these shows have been compiled onto one single layer DVD.
I will send out a copy of this DVD to the first five people who are willing to receive it and make 3 copies that they will send out to three people who are willing to make and send three copies to the next group of people. (Note: This is a DVD, not a CD-R. You will need to have the ability to make a copy of a DVD in order to take part in the early stages of this.)
For about $10 in materials and postage, anyone who wanted a copy could receive one much quicker than a traditional vine.
Here’s a brief sketch of how it would work:
Buffett81611 will see the first five people who sign up on this thread and compile a list like this:
Buffett 81611 will send to:
1. A1A
2. Feeding Frenzy
3. Havana Daydreamin’
4. Floridays
5. High Cumberland Jubilee
Once I compile a list of the first five names, I’d ask each of the people to PM me with their mailing address and I’ll get the DVD out to them
Each of these people would then post that they will send three copies to the first three people that sign up and they will be responsible for making the next list:
A1A will send to:
1. Delaney
2. Norman Paperman
3. Hippolyte
Then each of those three people would post and make a list for those who want this as well.
This will delay those folks that can’t make a copy of DVD for three or four rounds, but then they can post and those with a copy can take care of them. With this method, they will receive their copy weeks or months ahead of a traditional vine.
I’ll try and answer any questions on this thread and won’t reply to PMs about this once things get started. Having done this with other materials, it’s important for those reading this in July 2007 or later to post to this thread and then have someone “pick them up” as opposed to PMing me and saying “Hey, I saw this thread, can I get a copy from you?”
Obviously no money can exchange hands with this material and I’d be livid if something like this shows up on eBay. Also, if there is a legal reason not to get these shows out (none of which have any singles or direct material from anything you can purchase commercially from Jimmy), please let me know and I’ll stop before things get started. If you’re like me, hearing some of these shows will encourage those that don’t have every JB CD to go out and fill in the rest of their collection.
Hope this makes sense to everyone and it’s OK to depart from the traditional vine. The pastor in me likes the idea of modeling what Jesus did…giving freely and encouraging those following Him to do the same.
Peace, Matt
