Bama Breeze's Greatest Hits

Post by dewyduster »

Anyone interested in helping me compile the highlights from this year's tour after it is over? I figure we can get a list of all the "special" songs he played and put them together as a set for downloading or vining...

I have a bunch of the shows but do not have all of them.

P.S. By special, I mean songs Jimmy doesn't do every show.

Funny you posted this, as I was thinking of doing something similar. I'm home sick with the flu, so was downloading some of the shows you posted on the "Gillette 9/2" thread. Have gotten both Gillette shows, Pittsburgh and am doing Bristow show now. (Thanks so much for doing that for all of us Dewey!) I noticed that there are 3 or 4 songs that are different every show, and thought it would be cool to put them together, or at least incorporate them into one "Bama Breeze 2007" 2 CD set with all the songs he played this summer together with best versions of all the "everynight" songs.
Sadly, my entire concert collection is made up of shows I've gotten from you, so I can't offer anything new. So, I'm not sure how I can help you, but if I can, I'm game. Just tell me what you want me to do.

Thanks C-Dawg. Hope you feel better... A big help would be to give me suggestions for what to include. I'm pretty tight with the shows that I have posted but if you can remember any songs from other shows, let me know and we can start hunting for them.

Well, I guess the thing to do is find out what he's played. I'm going to go into the Set List Forum, and start going thru the 2007setlists. I'll go from concert setlist to setlist, and see what gets played all the time, and what gets played occasionally, and write down when they're played. I'll post the list when I get it done.

The Set lists

Post by j44myette »

Yeah. Thats what I did tried too. I copied each set list into Word and printed each set list out. Then I put them on the table and went through each set list and picked the unusual songs. I definitely would love to to help out if I can!

Looks like we're playing along the same lines...I've started an Excel spreadsheet....have gotten all thru the 6/30 show done already. Have 63 different songs so far. When I get it up to date, I'll let you guys know,
Chris

This is a good start. I will go through my recordings and see what I have. I consider myself a high tech guy (I work in IT) but my Sirius radio still stumps me...

I did that very same thing and posted what I thought on the setlist thread for MSG1.

There are some good suggestions for additions, but audio will not be available untili DVDs for Anguilla and Paris are released.

Suggestions are mainly on page 1 of the thread...

Try looking here too.

Scroll down to the bottom for the Bama Breeze Tour.

Well, I have a database of the entire tour done ( thru the 9/18 show) and will update it as more concerts are performed. So far, Jimmy has performed 78 different songs on this tour ( if you count 2 versions of Boat Drinks). I'm going to total up the numbers tomorrow night ( too sick, too tired tonight) and will post them.
Dewey, if you want a copy of the excel sheet, PM me.
Night all,
C

I can also help with the special stuff.

I have recorded everything that was broadcast this year in it's entirety, in primo Sirius quality.

I also have a database, the same one that was used originally as a "seed" for the BN database.

Here's a different view of the Bama Breeze tour, it's the big shows, relating the songs to the locations played. Might be helpful for the final compilation.

LOL...Gingerbread man, wish you'd posted that before I built essentially the same thing. Saw the 2007 setlist Conched posted, but it didn't tell when the song was played, so I built one that did, as it's easier to reference. Since yours is already posted, I'd say let's go with your version. I was going to tally up numbers this afternoon. I'll probably continue to keep mine up to date, just in case.
Did you separate the acoustic versions of songs from versions done with the band, such as with Boat drinks?

Nope. It's saved just like the BN database. So for example, Boat Drinks (acoustic solo) is still Boat Drinks plus a comment.

Isn't it funny how we're all trying to do the same thing!

Wow you are much more ambitious than I am! Cool. So once we agree on the songs and versions, I will contact you and get the recordings. Then I will extract the songs (not sure if you cut up your recordings or not but I can do that no problem) and post them on my share site for all to download. Maybe we can even come up with some CD cover art 8)

Dewey,
Are we doing 1 CD, or a 2 CD set? I think it'll take 2 CDs to get a good collection of rare cuts.

How do you propose deciding which versions of the songs are chosen? IMHO, we have 4 of us that have offered to work on this, why not split the list of "gems" into 4, each of us take our list, and offer up which 2 versions we feel are best. Then the 4 of us listen to the 2 versions and vote.

Last question...can we use anything from the Anguilla show? They are releasing that show as a CD/DVD, so does that affect us using anything from it?

I think your plan sounds reasonable. It would definitely have to be 2 CDs.

I'm not sure about the copyright infringement rules regarding the Anguilla show. I know other trading sites I've been on, once the material is used by the artist in a release, it has to be removed from availability.

That was my understanding also, so I'd assume that means we exclude anything from that show.

Sounds like a great idea.......count me in for the vine when it's ready :)

Two thoughts:

RM played a few "pre-views" of the Anguilla show once, maybe someone has a copy of those cuts. They were acoustic guitar-only songs from the beach.

"Early Morning Rain" a Gordon Lightfoot cover, is a new song; JB mentioned it in the TTWWY release show on RM. I will try to capture it off the Concert Replay this Saturday.
