It's snowing again, and I'm bored again, so...........what's your favorite homemade salad dressing recipe?

I only make Caesar salad dressing, and one for a broccolli salad now I want to experiment some more.

Mine's in the cookbook ....

Put your salad together.

Drizzle olive oil over it. Use sparinginly.
Toss.
Sprinkle with Lowry's Garlic Salt so it looks like it snowed on top.
Toss.
Add red wine vinegar.
Toss.
Add pepper.
Toss.

By magic, it doesn't separate at the bottom. De-yummy.

Enjoy!

olive oil
red wine vinegar
Worcestershire sauce
sugar
Italian seasoning
pepper
Don't bother mixing seperately, just pour the ingredient over salad and toss!

That's my mix! Well, without the sugar, and possibly a clove of garlic added. My mix is heavy on the vinegar (3-1 to extra virgin olive oil)

If you have a chance, try the Chianti Red Wine vinegar. I found it at BJ's Wholesale club a few years agao and have been hooked ever since. My wife's Italian, red wine vinegar is important to her life ( ;-) ) and it's all she uses now. It's excellent.

GARLIC is one of my four food groups....I will add it to my recipe...The sugar (just a touch) takes the edge off the whorechestershire and vinegar.

in all seriousness, why would you want to take that edge off, that's what intrigues me about this recipe and is a catalyst to me buying a dressing, like Asian Ginger, Ken's Greek, etc.

We love salads and use this almost every night. I make triple recipes and put it in the refrig to keep instead of making every night. if you refrigerate it You do have to get it to room temp before you use it.

Ches's famous Celery Seed Salad Dressing

¾ cup salad oil
1/3 cup Cider vinegar( flavored vinegars are also very good)
1 tsp salt
½ cup sugar ( I use ½ sugar & ½ sweetner )
1 tsp mustard
1 tsp celery seed
1 tsp onion flakes or minced onion

try using a good mustard. A grey poupon (not exactly that brand) but a good mustard in whatever flavor you like

garlic powder
italian seasoning
rosemary (crushed prefered)
fresh ground pepper... or lemon pepper (if you have it hanging around)
a like chamapgne vinegar or white wine vinegar
good extra virgin olive oil

it makes a great low fat (and the fat that's there is "good" fat from the oil) Honey mustard vingerette.

Its really great over salmon salads, a different and interesting ove a tomato basil mozzerella salad. GREAT with a cobb salad, or drizzled over some pan fried chicken.
