...what about videos? Is there a way to do it? what would I need? I have found some amazing videos on you tube (some buffett, many not) that I would love to have, but can't figure it out. You all helped me learn how to rip audio--hoping you can help me out here as well!
Thanks!
Kerry

You can download the videos directly from youtube with a small plugin that runs in Firefox. (It's not available for Internet Explorer). It wil run on Firerox 2 and 3. The videos are FLV, or Flash Video files.
Launch Firefox and navigate to
http://videos.yamour.com/downloader.html
On the left side of the page, there is a button that you need to drag to your Links toolbar. This will produce a Video Downloader button on the toolbar.
Close, then reopen Firefox. Go to whatever youtube video you want to download. Click the button to start downloading the video.
The video will be saved as "getvideo". You will need to rename it to "filename.flv".
To play the video, you can download
FLV Player for free.

I use the Firefox extension "UnPlug" for saving the videos.
Then I just play back the FLV's in VLC. You can also use VLC to convert the FLV's to another format such as mpeg, avi, wmv, etc.
