I might make this today
and thought some of you might also enjoy because it is the season.
Slice and or chop 3 to 4 large apples
1 cup sugar
1 cup flour
1 1/2 sticks melted butter
1 egg
pinch of salt
pinch nutmeg (the spice, not ours)
1/2 cup whole or chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
1 Tablespoon sugar
1 Tablespoon cinnamon
Preheat the oven to 350, Fill a pie plate 2/3 full of the sliced apples. Sprinkle the sugar and cinnamon over the apples. ( or you could use apple pie spice). Mix all the other ingredients together in a seperate bowl. Spread the mix over the apples and bake for about 40 minutes until golden brown. (
Just phound an error in Phruitcakes In the Kitchen, page 222, should not be 540 minutes
)
Serve warm or cold, with or without vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.........Mmmmmmmmmmm
