Actually, he did play it live on two occasions, though not at a "traditional" concert.Salukulady wrote:He never played it in concert. The only place it is available is on a CD included with the book.
If you are still looking for it, PM me.marksberyj wrote:I am looking for the song "A Salty Piece Of Land". Can anyone help?
And that was an indoor performance so I couldn't just go downstairs, walk across the street and listen. If I recall, it was only Jimmy, Mac, Peter, Robert, Mr. Utley and maybe Ralph. I could be wrong, but I seem to recall them also doing Christmas In The Caribbean.Dezdmona wrote:Actually, he did play it live on two occasions, though not at a "traditional" concert.Salukulady wrote:He never played it in concert. Interesting that he never played it on the "Salty Piece of Land Tour"
No PM, but you got everybody else correct.LIPH wrote:And that was an indoor performance so I couldn't just go downstairs, walk across the street and listen. Today Show, Christmas in the Caribbean
That's just SOOO wrong. As many times as Jimmy has been on the today show, you'd think they'd spell his name correctly.springparrot wrote:Thanks for the link--it was good to see that again.chippewa wrote:No PM, but you got everybody else correct.LIPH wrote:And that was an indoor performance so I couldn't just go downstairs, walk across the street and listen. And back in 2004 that well known Parrothead Katie Couric was still on the Today Show. You'd think the way she used to act like a lovesick little schoolgirl when Jimmy was on the show she would have gotten them to spell his name right.Salukulady wrote:That's just SOOO wrong. I enjoyed Tales from Margaritaville, Where is Joe Merchant and his biography but have never been able to finish A Salty Piece of Land. Have started it several times.....thought it was just me losing my concentration and getting distracted by my busy life. Haven't bought the pig book yet, didn't like the reviews and I only buy paperbacks. Will probably add it to my collection when I run into it used.LIPH wrote:And back in 2004 that well known Parrothead Katie Couric was still on the Today Show. That was also the week the book A Salty Piece Of Land was released. I had my book and a sharpie, I went downstairs and Jimmy was out in Rockefeller Plaza collecting toys for the Today Show's Toys For Tots drive. As he walked back inside I held up my book and sharpie and called out "Jimmy". He looked at me, smiled, waved and kept walking. Oh, and the book sucked.
