All I have to say for now is AWESOME show. Set list was a bit short but hey...it was the hamptons..and we were front row. Got some very cool pics on the digital. I'll try to give you phriends a review tomorrow. I just got back. Very strange this is the only post for this show. For those other ph's who attended please share you thoughts of the show. I'm to tired to review right now. Good night.
Kitty, what did you think? Was your husband surprised?
Lola, yes the VIP's were very well worth it.

Great that he did "No Woman, No Cry" as one of the encores!

Southern cross was very cool. Ragtop day was I think the third song very nice. In a way it seemed like he enjoyed putting on the show but was not 100% into it in my opinion. A few good lines about long island and sag harbor but he played his songs, 3 minute break, back for a few more, than out of here. I'll have to compare to Jones Beach 8/29. Still an awesome show. I was never so close in my life to the stage like tonight and probably will never be again. That was the best part as it seems the show is just for you and the thirty or so people around you.

Incredible show considering the weather, even got to see jimmy and the band at rehearsal.they did rehearse "great heart", but didn't play it.they came on with "ragtop day" instead.my only complaint was that the show was to short, although the whole band wasn't there.glad he played "tryin to reason with hurricane season",it was fitting.see ya at the beach on the the 29th!!!!

I drove the 2 1/2 hrs. from NJ to see Bubba up close and personal. He came on with Stars on the Water, then Ragtop Day, followed by Knees of my Heart. After that, don't really remember, too much Margaritaville Tequila in the tent!! All in all a good show, but no Utley or Amy Lee. Phins Up!!

Here's the setlist as I recall. I'm not positive about the order but I think it's close. I was surprised how good Jimmy and the band sounded without Utley, Doyle and the horn section. Even though the show was a little short it was well worth the VIP prices.
1) Stars on the Water
2) Ragtop Day
3) Knees of my Heart
4) Volcano
5) Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes
6) Cheeseburger in Paradise
7) First Look
Come Monday
9) Southern Cross
10) One Particular Harbor
No Intermission
11) That’s What Living is to Me
12) Son of a Son of a Sailor
13) Tryin to reason with Hurricane season
14) Why don’t we get drunk and screw
15) Fins
16) Gypsies in the Palace
17) Margaritaville
1st Encore
18) No Woman, No Cry
19) Brown Eyed Girl
2nd Encore
20) A Pirate looks at 40

Thanks Dsweeny for setlist. I think first look was before cip but no matter. The best quote from non-parrotheads sitting in VIP section:
"Why don't we all sit down since we brought the chairs" (CLASSIC)
Best visual of a non-ph: Woman sitting next to us during Volcano reading a magazine. (another classic). Then we walked up to the stage.

It sure did and I was laughing my ••• off. My wife told me about the guy you thought we should all sit down (nature called me).
The one thing I noticed about the "benefit" concert was about 40% of the VIP people were just there to be there. They could care less who Jimmy was. It was sad but made my wife and I happy because we had more room at the stage. Another classic was this morning at work a fellow colleague of mine asked how the concert was. I said great etc.. She then asked who I went to see and I replied "Jimmy Buffett". She then had a very puzzled look on her face as she never heard of him. I kept my composure and told her he has only been on the concert scene for over 30 yrs.
Now that was sad.

Lou, you are right on. The perrier was there. The vip tent had a couple of Margarita stations. I had to laugh and walk away though after the first one. Reason being they added one (1) shot of margville teq to a whole pitcher of mix. I am used to a 50/50 mix. They had plenty of beer and wine so alcohol wasn't much of a problem.

I was there last night and also at the 96 show he did there. My feeling last night was "let's get this done before it rains". Bubba opened by saying "This looks like a casting call for Perfect Storm 2". It was a pleasant show, but a bit disappointing after seeing setlists for all of the shows this summer. Especially since I won't be at the JB/JB show 8/29. I'm sure the remarkably miserable weather had a lot to do with it. Maybe JB should have hired a few local musicians to fill in as the band was a bit light with the missing players. At least it didn't monsoon like the 1997 Jones Beach show

PhPaul:
I will definately put up the extra cash next year. We were in the general admission seats, and we had a pretty good view considering we tailgated a while in the lot. Pretty much a great crowd except for a bunch of 40-something ph's who were wasted beyond belief, trying to start fights, knocking into people. . .very uncool. I agree- the set list was a bit short but I look at it as an appetizer for 8/29. What did everyone think about the substitution of steel drums for Finger's harmonica?
By the way, my brother was the nut job with the huge inflatable shark around his body. He and his 2 phrends had their picture taken by someone in the VIP tent with a professional-looking camera. Hopefully they'll wind up in the coco tel.

We were in the general admission section and had a great view. It was my fiance's first Buffett concert and although he loved the music and the show but the actions of a few ph really turned him off. Directly in front of us (we were only maybe 5 or 6 back from the fence) were some really drunk and stoned Ph who were talking during most of the show and when they weren't they were rough housing with each other and pushing into us and others. To our left was a group of young ph (early 20's) who were pretty much puking on themselves. I had to do some convincing to get him still come to the Jones Beach show.
The concert it self was great a nice mix up from some of the other set lists I have seen. Kind of short, but I figured it was kind of a taste of Jones Beach to come.

Julie: I think we were behind the same set of idiots. Did one of the women, in her 40s, wear a lei-type bikini top? That group was out of control.
I think Jimmy missed a great opportunity to do alot of acoustic ballads that he usually doesn't play on tour. Our loss.
PH Jim: Why wasn't the concert broadcast on RM? They played RM at the concert prior to Jimmy taking the stage.

While we're talking about concert experiences, my wife and I were seated on left aisle about 30 feet from the main t-shirt concession table.
In the row behind us was a twenty-something rich-daddy's boy who was spending his time trying to publicize to passersby a party that he is throwing at his daddy's place on Fire Island next week. He was pretty trashed, and was annoyingly loud most of the time.
He also had a damned rude habit of addressing my wife as "baby" each time he shoved behind us to get out to the aisle. The first time he did it, my wife corrected him on his slang. The second time he did it, I told the SOB that addressing my wife as "baby" was rude and that he should apologize. He did, but he went off muttering to his buddy that he didn't know what I was taking issue with.
I guess you meet all types at these benefits.
