Shrimp Burger Recipes?

Post by NZParrothead58 »

Anyone got a good one? I'm close to the end of my summer break and will be heading back to school soon. I would love to get some good shrimp burgers made up as a farwell to summer. I used to have a good recipe but lost it in the move. Any help?

I am kind of shocked that there are no shrimp burger recipes out there...one last call for them before I start back at work again tomorrow.

Cheers

Here is a link I found that's interesting and was posted at http://www.roadfood.com/Forums/

1. Recipe and nice, historically informative story. I would read the whole thing before making the burgers:

I'll look through my books. Had a good shrimpburger at Ollie's in South Carolina, but never the Shrimp Shack, and my favorite place here serves them like a shrimp poorboy on a sourdough bun all spiffed up with grilled or fried shrimp...just a shrimp sammich to me.

Here's one for shrimp patties to make your shrimp burger. Sounds like they could be good? May have to try it myself now.

Mama Blue's Shrimp Patties
from The Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. Cookbook

3 cups water
1 pound unpeeled medium-size fresh shrimp
3 tablespoons butter or margarine
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup milk
2 green onions, chopped
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon Beau Monde seasoning
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon hot sauce
1 large egg, lightly beaten
1 cup Italian-seasoned breadcrumbs, divided
1/4 cup vegetable oil

Bring water to a boil; add shrimp, and cook 3 to 5 minutes
or until shrimp turn pink. Drain well; rinse with cold
water. Chill. Peel, devein, and chop shrimp.

Melt butter in a heavy saucepan over low heat, add
flour, stirring until smooth. Cook 1 minute, stirring
constantly. Gradually add milk; cook over medium heat,
stirring constantly, until mixture is thickened and bubbly.
Stir in green onions and next 6 ingredients.

Combine shrimp, egg, 1/2 cup breadcrumbs, and sauce
mixture. Shape into 4 patties; dredge in remaining
crumbs. Pour oil to depth of 1/2 inch into a skillet.
Fry in hot oil until golden, turning once. Drain.

Yields 4 servings.

the best shrimpburgers are a good handful of 12-14 or whatever size is on sale fried shrimp on a bun slice of cheese and coleslaw optional
the concoctions that have you cut and form a cake are shrimpcakes not a shrimpburger (in my experience and opinion)

Well done you guys...thanks. I used to have a recipe that included cajun seasonings, breadcrumbs, etc and they made burgers that you then fried up. They were so good and I am kicking myself for losing the damn thing. I'll have to give these a go though and see what we can do.

Unfortunately (not really unfortunately because it was great and I love it) I had to settle for fish n chips on the beach for my "last supper" before heading abck to work. It was great! Although the weather was beautiful and the fish was perfect...I'll be cooking again soon.

Cheers

strange as it seems.. this is the only way I like Scallops.. when I was in the Biz..
we were given some samples, and I found that with some tarter sauce and
cole slaw the "scallop Burgers" were great..

I'm thinking shrimp?? not so much..
