It is rare for 8th graders to give presents, they are too cool. But I got a pretty hanging stained glass butterfly from one of my boys yesterday, with a beautiful thank you note.

I decided to go to the Pelicans game tomorrow for Back To The Future Night and try to win one of the special jerseys in the charity auction. I went online this morning to buy a ticket and I saw I'll be getting a bonus. Last night's game was rained out so there's a double header tomorrow.

They had Super Hero Night back in April and I won one of the jerseys in that auction, it was to raise money for the Special Olympics. The player whose jersey I won is the Pelicans 3rd baseman, a guy named Jeimer Candelario. He made the Carolina League All-Star team. Three other Pelicans also made the All-Star team, so I'll probably bid on one of the other guys tomorrow just to get a different uniform number. They're having at least 2 more special jersey auctions later in the year, Ugly Christmas Sweater Night and Pink In The Park. They're also having 2 online auctions, one is going on right now. In the early 90s the Myrtle Beach minor league team was called the Hurricanes. They wore throwback jerseys in a game 2 weeks ago. That auction doesn't end until July 1 so I'm going to wait before I make a bid.
