I guess one thing we need to decide is what makes a song rare? There are 25 confirmed dates on the 2007 Bama Breeze tour not counting Anguilla, so does playing a song less than 25% (6 times) make it rare? Personally, I think playing a song 3 times or less makes it rare. Using that number, there are currently 40 songs which have been played 3 times or less, which is a little more than 2 CDs.
IMO, this seems like a manageable number, as there are still 6 shows( so some may end up in 4 or more shows), and a few of the songs with 2 or 3 appearances are covers that I don't expect we would include.
Thoughts?

How about Northeast Texas Women? I think he's only played that twice this year, at Houston and Frisco back in April.

I was thinking any song that he doesn't do every night but you are right, we would probably have 4 CDs of material. Your formula seems right... we don't have to follow it to the letter but use it as a guideline. Should we wait until the end of the tour to start this or should we get it in motion now?

IMHO, we should wait, as we'll have a couple dozen songs on the list, and up to 3 versions from the different concerts to listen to and decide which cut is the one to use on our CDs. We can't really do that until we have all the versions from all the concerts.
Look at it this way, it'll be a good winter project to remember a great summer by
OTOH, if the concensus is to get started, I'm cool with it.

Do you include local flavour songs as rare? In that case, the Canadian writers' songs covered would qualify too

IMHO, any song Jimmy sings less than 3 times during the Bama Breeze tour would qualify, regardless of whether it's one of Jimmy's songs or a cover, but it'll have to be a majority decision of all those who offered to help put his together. So far, I believe it's myself, j44myette, deweyduster and gingerbreadman.

I'm not saying that's all that can help, but was just pointing out that's all that had offered to help so far. If you want to help, the more the merrier.

Dewey, Do you have an updated list of the "rare" cuts done less than 3 time s on the tour? If not, I'm working at the dive shop Saturday, and should have time to spend putting one together. Then maybe we can divvy up the list and come up with our "choices" for best version. I'm short a couple of concerts, but should be able to at least download the cuts I need on my portion of the list.
Thoughts?
